Paradise Developments and the Baruch and Weisz families have played a critical role as a philanthropic partner at North York General Hospital, transforming care through investments in spaces like the Baruch/Weisz Outpatient Care Clinic, the Baruch/Weisz Cancer Centre, the Baruch/Weisz Labour & Delivery Unit within the Birthing Centre. We are proud to continue our commitment to community health to help leave a lasting impact on patients, families, and the future of healthcare at NYGH.
The Baruch/Weisz Outpatient Care Clinic is a modern, purpose-built space designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the community. With a focus on patient comfort, privacy, and accessibility, the clinic brings together a wide range of outpatient services under one roof—including General Internal Medicine, ACS Urology, ACS General Surgery, Stroke Prevention, Acute Gynecology, Wound Care, Urgent GI, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, and Geriatric Clinics. This integrated approach allows patients to receive timely, coordinated care from expert teams in a welcoming and efficient environment, helping to improve outcomes and enhance the overall patient experience.
The Baruch/Weisz Cancer Centre at North York General Hospital serves as a comprehensive outpatient facility dedicated to delivering multidisciplinary cancer care. It encompasses key services such as the Anne Tanenbaum Chemotherapy Clinic, BMO Oncology Assessment and Support Services, hematology, and pain and symptom management programs. Staffed by an interprofessional team—including medical oncologists, hematologists, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and registered dietitians—the Centre provides evidence-based treatments tailored to individual patient needs. Designed to enhance patient comfort and accessibility, the Centre plays a pivotal role in offering timely, coordinated cancer care within the community.
The Baruch/Weisz Labour & Delivery Unit, located within the Birthing Centre at North York General Hospital, is one of the busiest in Ontario, with over 4,600 births each year. Purpose-built to support a wide range of birthing experiences, the Unit features two high-risk delivery rooms, three operative birthing suites, a Post Anesthetic Care Unit (PACU), and two neonatal resuscitation rooms situated adjacent to the delivery suites. A highly skilled, multidisciplinary team—including obstetricians, midwives, nurses, anesthetists, and neonatologists—works in close coordination to provide expert, compassionate care through labour, delivery, and postpartum recovery. The Birthing Centre is currently undergoing a major redevelopment, with completion expected by the end of 2026, to further enhance comfort, privacy, and access to leading-edge technology for patients and their families.
