Spring is that time of year when we give our homes the extra care it needs. After a long, dark winter, the bright sun of springtime can shine a light on our leaf-filled gutters, exterior cracks and leaks, and the dead plants in last year’s flower beds.
Here is a checklist to help you target the areas that need some extra TLC this season.
Roof Shingles
Examine your roof shingles to ensure there was no damage done during the winter months. Shingles that are missing, cracked, or loose need to be replaced.
Gutters and Downspouts
Flush out the gutters and downspouts to remove leaves and debris. Gutters drain the water from your roofline and funnel it to the ground, so it is important they are flushed out well. Clogged gutters can cause damage to the structure.
AC Unit
Ensure your AC Unit works before the summer season begins. You might want to consider getting it serviced once a year.
Cracks and Leaks
Inspect the exterior of your home for cracks and leaks. Turn on the exterior water supply and check your hose and faucets for leaks.
Windows
Clean exterior windows and check for visible cracks. Inspect caulking and touch-up or replace where needed.
