The winter season drums up a mixed bag of opinions. Some people love those frosty days, while others (literally) hide from them. The best way to approach winter and its below freezing temperatures is to just embrace it! Bundle up, get outside, and partake in all the fun winter activities the season has to offer. Whether you’re making snow angels, skiing on the slopes, or hunting down a warm and tasty hot chocolate, joining in the winter fun some way or another will make the time fly by. Another great winter activity, and probably one of Canada’s most beloved is ice skating! There are lots of great spots throughout the GTA to dust off your skates and hit the rink, but these are some of our favourites.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Port Perry Marina Outdoor Rink, Port Perry<\/h3>\n

If outdoor skating is what you desire, then\u00a0Port Perry’s Marina Park may be worth a visit. This large outdoor skating rink is located right on the park’s waterfront, offering beautiful winter views, as well as lots of winter fun.<\/p>\n

Millennium Square Outdoor Rink, Pickering<\/h3>\n

Another option nearby is the new outdoor rink found at Pickering’s Millennium Square. This synthetic outdoor rink is open daily from 9am – 9pm for all those wishing to join in the classic winter sport.<\/p>\n

Neighbourhood Ice Rink Program, Ajax<\/h3>\n

The town of Ajax has a great winter program in which the town provides and installs boards to help neighbourhood participants set up ice rinks for public use. In return, they get a water consumption rebate by allowing the community to enjoy in the winter sport locally!<\/p>\n

Another popular option for those looking to skate in Ajax is stopping by\u00a0the Ajax Community Centre. Here you can enjoy public skating, learn to skate programs, as well as a pay-as-you-play drop-in shinny program.<\/p>\n

Iroquois Park Sports Centre, Whitby<\/h3>\n

This recreational facility in Whitby is one of Canada’s largest municipally owned and operated sports centres. Not only is there a shinny and public skating program, but there’s also a fully licensed restaurant and food court to stop in once you’ve had your fill of skating.<\/p>\n

Luther Vipond Memorial Arena, Whitby<\/h3>\n

This classic arena offers year-round activities, but is especially popular in the winter for it’s hockey and skating programs, which include shinny and public skates.<\/p>\n

McKinney Centre, Whitby<\/h3>\n

This 9,700 square metre complex with bleacher-style seating not only hosts AAA hockey games, but public skates for all ages as well! With 3 ice-pads\u00a0there’s plenty of space for you and your friends to enjoy the rink!<\/p>\n
