Something happened on September 21st – summer officially ended and fall began. The change is in the air and we can hardly wait for the streets to be decorated with dancing leaves. Surely many are sad to see this change occur, and wish summer could last forever. But we’re here to remind you why autumn is great. The colours, the milder weather, and the great fall events. Here’s some of the highlights coming to the area this fall!
Port Elgin Pumpkinfest – October 1-2

Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest has lots for visitors to do, including the giant vegetable weigh-off, Ontario’s largest outdoor car show, and over 100 craft and marketplace vendors. There are also lots of other fun activities that the whole family can enjoy.
Markham Fair – September 2 – October 2

The Markham Fair was established in 1844, making it one of the oldest country fairs around. With over 3000 exhibitors, and over 1000 agricultural, home craft, and livestock items to be judged, the fair is full of excitement. As well, there’s plenty of entertainment to enjoy, including live music, horse pulls, petting zoos, and lots of food vendors.
Oktoberfest – October 7-15

Kitchener’s Oktoberfest is North America’s largest Bavarian festival – celebrating the area’s local German Canadian heritage. This 9 day event has tons of activities to offer including the opening ceremony where the first keg is tapped, Canada’s largest Thanksgiving Day Parade, and nights full of dancing and fun.
Royal Winter Fair – November 4-13

The Royal, located at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, has become an annual staple on the fall calendar. The event boasts exhibitions of livestock, crops, produce, and crafts, as well as popular events such as the Royal Horse Show, and President’s Choice Superdogs. The schedule is jammed packed with things to see and do, not to mention endless options for delicious food and drink.

The University of Guelph’s Fair November has come to be viewed as a little preview of what to expect at the One of a Kind show. Here you’ll find row after row of amazing Canadian artisans selling handmade products including homewares, art, jewelry, clothing, jarred and baked goods.
