With a population of roughly 128,377, Whitby is the perfect place to live. While it’s not exactly a ‘small town’ per say, it’s got that small town charm that can’t be beat. On the other hand, it’s not a large urban city either, but thankfully it has all the amenities and culture of one! You can explore the Station Gallery‘s latest exhibition, enjoy tunes from the Whitby Brass Band, or take in the latest show at the Whitby Courthouse Theatre. Each season the theatre puts on 3 productions that are visited by about 1500 guests. Their most recent production of Catch Me If You Can had a sold out run and finished to standing ovations and praise. Here’s a look at what’s up next!

This touching show tells the story of Olive and Gabe, who have just bought their first home together. They’re all packed up and ready to drive to their new life, when their parents show up to lend a hand, unexpectedly! The production offers a multi-generational look at the different kinds of relationships in our lives, and the funny ways our parents pass their best lessons onto their children. Get ready to laugh out loud at this very relatable, hilarious, and sweet play.

Roald Dahl’s beloved classic, Willy Wonka, tells the story of Charlie Bucket’s adventure at Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. After finding one of the coveted golden tickets in his chocolate bar, Charlie wins a visit to the mysterious and wonderful factory, where he and his grandfather meet the other unique winners and the eccentric Wonka himself. The production will feature songs from the original motion picture, as well as Whitby Theatre’s Youth Group!

If you’re looking for great entertainment that still has that small town charm, grab yourself tickets to the Whitby Courthouse Theatre!
