One of the best things about living in Brampton is the amount of diversity you get to experience. From the community, to the businesses, to the cuisine Brampton offers plenty of opportunities to try new things and experience different cultures. One event that really makes the city’s diversity shine is Taste of Downtown Brampton. This 2 week event takes you on a trip around the globe, getting to enjoy a variety of different cuisines, from different restaurants all over the city. Here are some highlights for Taste of Downton Brampton 2017.
45 minutes outside of the metropolis that is Toronto lies another bustling city – Brampton! In recent years, Brampton has seen huge growth. In fact, in several areas of Brampton, the population has doubled between 2011 and 2016. Currently the population comes in at 593,638, making Brampton the second fastest growing city in Canada. The ‘Flower City’, as it is sometimes known as, is an excellent place to live. Not only is there lots of growth in terms of population, but with growth comes more unique businesses, as well as facilities and recreation. These are just a few reasons we’re thrilled about our Upper Mount Plesasant development, a spectacular, new master-planned community just north of Bovaird and west of Chinguacousy, where you’ll feel right at home.
In case you’re hoping to know more about the community, we’ve done a little digging and have all the details on this charming area of Brampton. Check out Brampton by the numbers.
If you’ve been paying attention to the news stemming from the 2016 Census, then you’ll know that Brampton is experiencing huge growth. The population has officially surpassed the half million mark, coming in at a whopping 593,638! That makes Brampton the ninth largest municipality in Canada and the fourth largest in Ontario. The city has seen a 14.8% spike in its population, making it the second fastest growing city of Canada’s top 10 largest. We love Brampton for so many reasons! For its rich history, diverse culture, and unique shops but most of all, we love the people! Whether it’s someone you pass on the street on any given day or the person behind the counter at your favourite coffee shop, it’s the people who make up the city’s fabric that make living in Brampton so great. We reached out to some of our favourite small businesses in the city and asked them why they <3 Brampton. Check out their brief odes to one of our favourite cities around!
While many GTA-ers are probably rejoicing at the lack of snow we’ve gotten in the area, others aren’t so thrilled. For many, winter is their favourite time of year. Not only is it picturesque, but the winter specific activities you can take part in are heaps of fun. For those who like to frolic in the snow they have to wait all year long to hit the slopes to snowboard, ski, or toboggan. A fresh coat of snow is also necessary if you want to do some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Thankfully we’re expected to get a little over the weekend, and to celebrate, we’re listing off some great trails to snowshoe on in and around the Whitby area.
Sometimes it’s easy to forget what a beautiful season winter really is. We get caught up in the shivering, the slushy streets, the grey days and come to dread the winter months. But when you’re walking on a quiet snow-covered street, skating on an ice rink as slick as glass, or knee-deep in freshly fallen snow, helping your kids make a snowman, you’re reminded of how much fun the season can actually be. Last time we highlighted some great spots in the GTA to go skating, so today we’ll give you the inside scoop on another winter activity and where you can do it in Brampton: tobogganing!
The winter season drums up a mixed bag of opinions. Some people love those frosty days, while others (literally) hide from them. The best way to approach winter and its below freezing temperatures is to just embrace it! Bundle up, get outside, and partake in all the fun winter activities the season has to offer. Whether you’re making snow angels, skiing on the slopes, or hunting down a warm and tasty hot chocolate, joining in the winter fun some way or another will make the time fly by. Another great winter activity, and probably one of Canada’s most beloved is ice skating! There are lots of great spots throughout the GTA to dust off your skates and hit the rink, but these are some of our favourites.
